1st World Firefighters Games; Auckland, New Zealand
22 to 29 April 1990

Initially the inaugural Games hosted by the City of Auckland were perceived as a one-off Games, however their ultimate success has paved the way for future Games.

Auckland, which is locally known as the 'City of Sails', hosted a magnificent event. The manner in which the sporting events were conducted is a credit to their Fire Service. The competition, friendly people and farewell banquet were second to none.


Toughest Firefighter Alive

The 'blue ribbon' event of the World Firefighters Games, the Toughest Firefighter Alive, is the most gruelling event of the entire competition. It is a test of great strength and endurance. This event encompasses;
